Friends, family or the cat?
Making a will to decide who will inherit your estate when you die is a very important thing to do – so why do so many people put it off? Findings from our latest research show that the majority of adults (55%) have not made a will, and while avoidance is perhaps to be expected among the younger generation, more than a quarter of over 55s (26%) are yet to decide what they want to happen to their estate after their death.
While our survey showed that for one in 10 families a will had led to upset and resentment, the problem could be much worse where there is no will at all. Though 9% of respondents say making a will is too complicated, in reality it couldn’t be easier. Skipton offers a will writing service in association with Irwin Mitchell, a top 20 law firm, including an easy to complete instruction form and a free helpline for any questions.
