Direct 30 Account

Up to 2.00% gross pa/AER Variable

Secure high interest saving through the post

What matters to you when it comes to saving? A great rate? Being able to manage your account by post? The option to get at your money?

Then why not take a closer look at our Direct 30 Account. It’s not available through our branches, but it uses the first class post, so everything you need is delivered to your door. It rewards you with a high rate of interest. And providing you give us at least 30 days’ notice, withdrawals are penalty-free.

The bigger the investment, the better the return

Direct 30 has tiered rates of interest that reward larger investments. Invest £10,000, the minimum amount, and you’ll get an attractive variable rate of interest. Invest £30,000 or more and you’ll receive the account’s top rate. Please note the maximum investment is £1 million.

How would you like your interest?

For added convenience, you can choose to have your interest paid monthly or annually and choose how you want it to be paid. Please remember that monthly interest rates are slightly lower than annual rates.

For the annual option, we can pay your interest into either your Direct 30 account, or your bank account, on 31 March each year. Alternatively, you can have your interest paid monthly into your bank account.

How the Direct 30 Account works

When you open a Direct 30 Account, we’ll send you everything you need to run your account by post, including:

  • your opening statement
  • transaction slips
  • reply paid envelopes

Please note: no passbooks are issued with this account.

  • To pay money to your account, simply complete a transaction slip and post it to us (minimum additional investment is £500). We’ll then send you a statement of transaction by post.
  • If you give us 30 days’ notice of a withdrawal, we’ll send you a cheque in 30 days by first class post, together with a statement. If you choose a withdrawal via BACS†, the funds will be credited to your bank account three working days after the withdrawal from your Direct 30 Account.
  • Withdrawals can be made in the form of a cheque made payable to the account holder(s), or an electronic transfer to your bank account through the BACS† system. Please note that closing your account is classed as a withdrawal.
  • Unfortunately you cannot have more than one notice period running at once.
